Additional Tips

Here are a couple common since tips for maintaining the integrity of your application:

  • Start with the school(s) that have the earliest deadlines.  Space out the applications for your sanitises sake, BUT DON'T PROCRASTINATE.  Get your applications in at least three weeks prior to the actual deadline date of the school
  • Read the directions.  I know we all have a habit of assuming certain things about applications, but don't do it here.  Follow the directions exactly as they read.  Each school can have different procedures.
  • Fill out the application in its entirety.  Some questions may seem insignificant but we assure you they asked it for a reason and expect their applicants to answer them.
  • Be direct and to the point.  If they ask for a paragraph, give them a paragraph.  Do your best to fit your answers in the space they provide on the application.
  • Spend extra time writing in your best penmanship or use a computer.  Use only blue or black ink when fill out applications by hand.  Most colleges prefer a typed application though, so do so if at all possible.
  • Triple check your work.  Make sure all grammar is correct and spelling is impeccable.  Get a human being to look over application.  Spell checkers can be unreliable at best.  Get a trusted English teacher or English major to review the application for suggestions, completeness, and correctness.
